Bring Soul Love
When is the last time you did absolutely nothing but take care of YOU?
Sometimes life can feel like it’s moving too fast and you just need a break. Maintaining a good work-life balance can often leaves us feeling oddly unbalanced. With the never-ending to-do list, responsibilities, and busy work schedules, it’s easy to delay taking care of ourselves.
We forget the importance of slowing down and recharging which leads to burn out, fatigue, bitterness, or even lack of fulfillment. That’s why it is essential to dedicate time to showing yourself the love and relaxation you deserve. That’s where a self-care night comes in.
Self-care is more than getting a facial and calling it a day. It’s being intentional about creating a routine that soothes your mind, nourishes your skin, and helps you feel connected to your best self. By engaging in activities that promote health, reduce stress, and foster a sense of balance and fulfillment, you can improve 4 major areas of your life:
- physical
- mental
- emotional
- social
Self-care is NOT an overnight fixer to all your unique life experiences. Instead, look at self care as an ongoing and personalized practice that requires you to listen to your body, prioritize your needs, and use strategies that work best for YOU.

How To Have A Relaxing Self-Care Night
Step One: Plan Ahead
This is the most important step in making sure your relaxation time is intentional and uninterrupted.
Look at your schedule, then choose a day and time when you have the least responsibilities and minimal distractions because you will need a good amount of time to pour into yourself. Whether it's a weeknight after a busy day of work or weekend that allows you a full day to unwind and reset.
Once you have the best day that works for you, you can use the calendar app on your phone to input the self care activities you would like to incorporate. Let's learn more about self-care ideas you can do at home.

Step Two: Workout or Take A Nice Walk
Wait! Here me out.
At the end of a workout, a wave of endorphins rush through your body which makes you feel accomplished and happy. Being out embracing nature is also a wonderful way to feel at peace within yourself. This is why starting your self care night with exercise can set a good mood for the rest of the activities you have planned.
Committing to a 5 minute warm up, 20 minute yoga/workout/run/walk, and a 5 minute cool down is 30 minutes of physical and mental activity that can increase the longevity of your life.
Exercising is an effective, stress relief act that can promote better mood and sleep making it such a crucial part of self-care.
Feel free to skip this step if it may seem like too much to add to your plate at this time but be aware that this step is crucial to the overall health of your future self.
Step Three: Take An Everything Shower or Do A Facial
Now, the exciting part. Hair care, skincare, body care!
Depending on what your schedule looks and the amount of TLC you need to indulge in, you can choose between an at-home facial , an ‘Everything Shower’. or both. These are the ultimate hygeine practice that includes comprehensive self care treatments that goes beyond a regular shower or skincare routine.
This step can take UP TO 3 hours, especially if you include nail maintenance or a detailed foot care routine but keep in mind that you don't ned to force yourself to do it all if time doesn't allow it. These practices can be done 1-2 times per week so whatever you didn't fit in this self care session, fit it in the next session.
Step Four: Put On Comfy Clothes
Put on a cozy robe, cute loungewear, silly pajamas, sexy lingerie, a big t-shirt, or even free ball in the nude. The point is to wear whatever makes you feel most comfortable and loved.
Keep in mind that this can also be a time to experiment. Trying new things is how you discover what works for you, what you like, dislike, and probably not ready for yet.
Step Five: Do A Hobby You Love Or Try A New One
Now, time to bring your soul love!

Step Six: Practice Positive Self Talk
5-10 minutes
Practicing positive self-talk and recitingaffirmations are a common step in a mindful self-care routine. This may seem out of the ordinary but it’s such a powerful tool in improving self esteem and boosting confidence.
You can start by searching and writing down a few “I AM’ statements then recite them for as long as you need to, preferably, in the mirror.
If you have a private bathroom, you can also take an old lipstick to write your affirmations on the mirror so that you can practice these affirmations more often.
Another example of practicing self talk is by writing down every negative thought you may have of yourself, whether you get it from other people or yourself, then replacing the statement with a positive perspective. Put this somewhere where you can see it daily to help improve your self image.
By speaking more positively to/about yourself, you magically create a thriving environment that transforms mentally and manifests physically.
Step Seven: Gratitude Time
5-15 minutes
End the day with focused thoughts.
- Meditate on something with intention. **Remember, meditating is NOT erasing all thoughts from your mind to a black wall but rather a time to observe your thoughts, feelings, and/or sensations without judgement. **
- Reflect on your self-care night routine. Use these prompts as a starter:
1. Did I enjoy taking care of myself in this way?
2. What could have been better?
3. What word would describe how I feel after this self care time?
- Pray. show gratitude to the source that created you for all the beauty that you have radiating inside of you.
